Phrasal verbs are common language. Every native English speaker uses phrasal verbs many times every day. Phrasal verbs are usually a verb + a preposition.

Separable phrasal verbs: can be normal or seperated
ex of normal: ask out --> to ask someone to go on a date
ex of split: ask him/her out --> to ask someone to go on a date

Inseparable phrasal verbs: phrasal verbs that CANNOT be separated:
ex of normal: drop out --> to stop going to a class
